WINGS AND STROKES
Exhibit of ArtEx Photographs – My first public art exhibit ran last Jan 9 to Feb 19, 2010 at the Muttart Conservatory. Muttart is Edmonton's premier horticultural attraction and a favourite place for children and adults, local and tourists alike. Its architecture features four beautiful glass pyramids filled with rare and wonderful plants from all over the world... and it is also very much part of my history in Edmonton...
In 2002 and in the Tropical Pyramid, surrounded by family friends and orchids in full bloom, Bruce and I got married. It was also here where, taking advantage of the beauty of its flowers and landscapes I did my ‘first steps’ into photography and where I frequently go and find refuge from Edmonton’s winters.
For all the above, it was a great honour for me that it was the Muttart Conservatory where I did my artistic public debut showcasing my Artistically Expressed photographs in an exhibit entitled Wings and Strokes.
The show ran successfully for six weeks and I sold almost 50% of the exhibited images which were fourty two.
Check the images at the ArtEx Gallery for a taste of the show!

PLANNING AHEAD OF TIME
My husband wish to retire in Mexico when the time comes. The area which we are exploring as a destination is Michoacan. The capital of Michoacán is Morelia, one of the two hundred cities named Cultural World Heritage sites by UNESCO, because the preservation of its character and charms reveal the exceptional levels of mankind's creations. Have you heard about this city? It is beautiful!
For now, we are interested in finding a person living in the area that we can email regularly, to exchange information regarding which areas of the city offer good living, housing, and services. If you can help, please write to me.

Indigenous people wouldn't let 'Day of the Dead' die
More than 500 years ago, when the Spanish Conquistadors landed in what is now Mexico, they encountered natives practicing a ritual that seemed to mock death. It was a ritual the indigenous people had been practicing at least 3,000 years. A ritual the Spaniards would try unsuccessfully to eradicate. A ritual known today as Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead...
